Our 'Versailles' model of column: it represents tradition and elegance allied to style, balance and authenticity. A beautiful decorative and architectural column in cast and extruded aluminium. We will cut it to measure if necessary. A very nice model of ornamental and decorative pillar for all outdoor constructions (verandas, pergolas, porches, terraces...) as well as for interior projects (renovation, decoration, lofts, loggias, etc.). We found our inspiration for this model during a visit of the 'Chateau de Versailles'.
Its stylish and balanced look is due to the assembly of a very classical and sturdy cast base, with a relatively light cast capital in the Corinthian style. Its nicely fluted shaft can be replaced with a smooth shaft.
The town of Versailles, founded by the will of the French King Louis XIV, was the seat of the power in France and thus the de facto capital of the French kingdom during the 17th and 18th centuries, before becoming the cradle of the French revolution in 1789.
It is worldwide renowned for its grandiose 'Chateau de Versailles', then the official residence of the French kings. It occupies some 6 hectares of ground (nearly 15 acres), and comprises some 2.300 salons and rooms, etc. Its superb gardens were designed by André Le Nôtre, the greatest French garden designer; these gardens occupy some 9.3 hectares (nearly 30 acres). The water that feeds the grandiose fountains embellishing the park and the surroundings of the castle comes from the Seine river, which is at 10 Km (6.2 miles) from the castle, and 142 meters lower. The equipment necessary for pumping the water from the Seine was developed by Belgian engineers from the region of Liège (Belgium). Have also a look on the net at the "Cour de Marbre" to see a superb arrangement of grandiose columns.
The cast parts of this column are all manufactured in our Belgian aluminium foundry. We exist since nearly 60 years: experience, tradition and quality. We use the antique 'sand casting' technique.
