Passy is a wealthy district of Paris, in the 16th 'arrondissement', with a typical and charming architecture. It is there that the famous French writer Honoré de Balzac lived and worked. He used to start his working days at midnight, and worked 18 hours a day! He wrote more than 100 books, and was also very active as a journalist.
It was also home to Benjamin Franklin during the nine years he spent in France as ambassador of America, in the second half of the 18th century. He had a printing press in his home, and printed pamphlets for obtaining and maintaining the French people's support to the American revolutionary war. He also invented during his stay in France the still actual system of bi-annual change of time (winter/summer, summer/winter).
Our 'Passy' model of decorative, ornamental and structural column, inspired by the nice architecture of this Parisian district, presents a agreeable aesthetical balance thanks to the contrast in style and in volume between its cast aluminium capital of authentic Corinthian style, and its elegant base of a more recent 19th century style, also in cast aluminium. It will fit nicely in a rather traditional environment, be it a verandah, a patio, a canopy or a pergola, a conservatory, an arcade around a swimming pool. It will also be quite adequate for indoor renovation or decoration purposes: lofts, mezzanines, loggias, etc.
Our 'Passy' architectural and decorative column is entirely made of cast and extruded elements produced in our sand- casting aluminium foundry located in Belgium. Is was founded nearly 60 years ago.
