Our 'Oleron' model of decorative columns in diameter 100 mm was inspired by the rough landscapes and the robust and sober architecture of the island of the same name, off the coasts of the Charente-Maritime region of France. Its design is truly authentic thanks to the traditional and very classic decorative castings at its extremities.

A sturdy and very strong model of cast architectural, structural and decorative columns, that will fit well in traditional or classical projects of terraces, porches and balconies as well as in seaside verandas or pergolas, or in indoor renovation or decoration works. It is also well suited for arcade projects or for the decoration of shopping malls.

Please remember that our cast aluminium decorative columns are nearly as load-bearing as traditional cast iron ones (we keep our engineer's figures at your disposition). This model in 2.5 meter height will bear loads up to 8.6 metric tons, or 14.6 tons if filled with concrete.

The Oléron island, off the Atlantic French coast is located in the "Charente Maritime" department. It is the second largest French island after Corsica, and it is renowned for its beautiful beaches, with very large tidal ranges, and surfing spots. The fortifications of its castle were conceived by the famous Vauban architect; the castle has since then been destructed. 

The climate of the island is influenced by the Gulf-Stream: it is mild during the winter, and vivid durint the summer. One can find on this island of nearly 174 square kilometers (of which 3.000 hectares of woods) an already mediterranean type of vegetation: palm and eucalyptus tress, agaves, mimosas.  A bridge of 3 kilometers links the island to the continent. A typical feature of the island are the charming fishermen's wooden houses, almost each of which is painted in a different colour. The Oléron oysters are famous; they deserve it.

All the elements of this system of structural and decorative columns are hand-made in our traditional aluminium foundry located in Belgium. We  exist since nearly 60 years: craftmanship, tradition and quality. The true and authentic 'European Classic' style.
