One of our nicest models, the 'Roscoff' decorative, ornamental and architectural column or pillar evokes the picturesque and nonetheless sturdy architecture of the charming port of Roscoff in the utmost northern French Britanny. This robust model of cast decorative columns (in diameter 100 mm) is aesthetically very well balanced, with its two imposing and elegant cast end-pieces. Its is a real European Classic style column. You can also call it a 'Colonial style' column. 

Such a cast column is as nearly as load-bearing as a cast steel column. It is perfectly adequate for large constructions such as verandas, pergolas, terraces or arcades around a swimming pool. It will also fit very well in your decoration or renovation projects: lofts, mezzanines, loggias, living or dining rooms. This column will keep its nice aesthetical balance up to heights of 3.5 meters.

Note that our columns in aluminium are approximately as strong as common cast iron columns. This model in a height of 3.5 m will bear loads of up to 5.2 metric tons with a wall thickness of 5 mm, or 9.1 tons with a wall thickness of 10 mm. Both thicknesses are standard available.

The harbour-town of Roscoff is located in the region of the 'Leon', a part of the French 'Finistère' department, in the North of Britanny. That's where the French peasants-sailors, the "Onion Johnnies", were sailing from to sell their renowned pink onions in the south of England. Both the town and the nearby charming island of Batz are known for their mild climate, due to the vicinity of the Gulf Stream. The "Jardin George Delaselle" on the island of Batz (20 minutes sailing from Roscoff with the sea-shuttle) is host to more than 2500 trees, plants and flowers that were collected from all the five continents.

This very robust and tough decorative and structural column is produced in our aluminium foundry located in Belgium. We have nearly 60 years of experience in the ancient and traditional sand-casting technique.
